Just wondering more than anything else...what is the current status on
what will eventually happen to the footbridge that has been over Route
9 in Brookline Village for 40+ years? Its been closed for a number of
years now, and IMHO has long since become more of an eyesore rather
than a method of "transportation". Heck, I've even used it myself a
couple of times. I can understand why it was built though considering
the difficulty of crossing...even with traffic lights.

So, bottom line, was the bridge closed for structural
reasons?...personal safety concerns?...or both?

Writing five years after this posting! Still closed! Was crossing underneath it with some people running from Green Line to the 66 bus and one of them mentioned that they call it the "Frogger Crossing". I've looked back and seen discussions dating to 2003 complaining about the closed bridge. Has anyone died playing Frogger there yet? Has anyone been seriously hurt yet? Could someone let us know about this?
