Next is the water, of course. It was only meant to be for a wisdom
whose motto is "Life's Beach." All the roads are closed to me: north,
south and west, then the water is the only escape. I had other kayaks
but this is the ultimate because I can carry all my gear. I love my
kayak!

Well, on land is not a pretty picture. West is PERMANENTLY UNDER
CONSTRUCTION, south is WINDING & GRINDING, and north is RUSSIAN
ROULETTE.

When a path closes in the jungle, you must find another path. And the
ocean is, to quote Hemingway, "the ultimate frontier." So don't ask
for whom the bell tolls.

This is a comment I posted to a local forum:

They simply push you off the sidewalk. Nobody guarantees your safety.
I’ve come under attack (blast of horn) and nothing happens. Red light
cameras do nothing other than increase profits and prevent head-on
collisions. SPEED CAMERAS could change things but they are not coming
soon. As someone says, “it’s been demonstrated that money/revenue
trumps safety and logic.”

Don't take a small stove with you.

Old proverb; "you can't have your kayak and heat it".

Particularly true of an inflatable kayak.

The beautiful thing about a kayak is that it can take me to a not-too-
distant island that can be mine for a while, and I can do whatever I
want. I look at civilization through my binoculars and say, "What a
piece of shit!" But, of course, I must go back to it and drive my car.

How did we get to this point that a Wise Man must get on a kayak to
escape civilization? I'll think about it.
