You may have heard the term 'viatology' discussed in these
newsgroups. But what does it mean?
Viatology is the scientific study of roads. By following the
scientific method ( http://teacher.pas.rochester.edu/phy_labs/appendixe/appendixe.html
) to measure and analyse road characteristics, a viatologist can share
information w/ the international community that, most importantly,
helps define the methods in which roads connect w/ different regions &
political divisions of the world.
One of the most important characteristics of viatology is that its
participants conduct their own individual studies and share these w/
the scientific community. A viatologist is not to be confused w/ a
"road enthusiast", a consumerist who commonly redistributes road-
related stories by the media.
For more information on viatology, including its etymology thereof,
visit http://wwtl.info/#viatology.html
Through your contributions to viatology, road-related studies may
become part of general curricula in scientific research and academic
curricula one day. To further advances!
Cheers,
Carl Rogers
