This is is a state-wide problem, being lead by Broward county. Drivers
are simply predators or terrorists, whichever you prefer:
Hit-and-run crashes, fatalities on rise, state warns
Among the victims of unsolved fatal hit-and-run crashes in 2013 are
DeAndre Binns, 6, in Miramar; bicyclist John Quintal, 49, in Sunrise
and special-needs teacher Paula Vinsky, 47, in Loxahatchee.
And in Southwest Ranches: jeweler Dwight Morrison, 63, killed
instantly Saturday while riding his bicycle on a long-distance trek.
Morrison's survivors are among the lucky ones, because unlike many
families who do not see an arrest made, the Broward Sheriff's Office
charged a man with DUI and leaving the scene, among other offenses.
And the Florida Highway Patrol says hit-and-run crashes are on the
rise.
In 2012, Broward County ranked second among Florida's top five
counties for hit-and-runs, with 7,857 crashes, an 8 percent increase
over 2011, FHP said Monday while launching an awareness campaign.

This sounds like drivers getting away for killing innocent civilians
with a 10 year sentence --if caught-- and "awareness campaigns" for
the rest of the predatory drivers.
That's not the way to deal with terrorists.

But shouldn't pity be reserved for those of us who do not come close to
what this couple have realised in their 34 years of life?
Just common sense, eh.

again I read your posts about how cars threaten people riding bikes,
hogging the road, driving over bike lanes, forcing bikes off
the road and on sidewalks. Have you ever considered another
way to ride a bike, which consists in going out of your way to
*make room* for cars as they drive near you on the road ?
I find this works even in the most drastic of places and times.
Try it. It keeps me safe. It's just a matter of common sense :))
The more room you give them, the more they squeeze you. I've seenIs anyone trying to make sense of this world?
