The chances of a White Christmas are reduced by a quarter because of Global Warming

"Researchers examined data from 1964 to 2009 and found that the
chances of more than 2 centimeters of snow on the ground on December
25th had declined by a quarter."

That goes to say the Christians are wrong in denying Climate Change.

My comment:

"And the Christians deny Global Warming..."

Was outvoted 5 to 3, but that doesn't make me wrong. It makes them
LIVE IN DENIAL.

today has been the first hot day. it's meant to be the hottest summer
but so far it has been the coldest in many peoples EXPERIENCE. wtf
Zhuangzi once wrote about arguments.http://www.universal-tao-eproducts.com/taoism-resources/ChuangTzu2UTE...
"Chuang Tzu's philosophy anticipates Buddhism, expecially the central
tenet that true freedom can only be attained with the cessation of
identifying with desire. Yet Chuang Tzu infuses a sense of intuitive
immediacy to the task, whereas Buddhism is resolutely and thoroughly
analytical. Though the essential message is the same, Chuang Tzu takes
the poetic approach while Buddhist texts tend to prefer the prosaic."

So you deny Global Warming or not?
Some do. Some don't.
Is good good? Is bad bad?
Why care?

The authors of the new report say “the net effect of continued warming
and rising carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere is most
likely to be beneficial to humans, plants, and wildlife.”
The report says that “global warming is more likely to improve rather
than harm human health because rising temperatures lead to a greater
reduction in winter deaths than the increase they cause in summer
deaths.”
The researchers found that global warming “benefits” not only mammals
but amphibians, birds, butterflies and insects also benefit from its
myriad ecological effects.
The reports also states that the Medieval Warm Period of approximately
1,000 years ago was both “global and warmer than today’s world.”

"Warmer periods bring benign rather than more violent weather. Milder
temperatures will induce more evaporation from oceans and thus more
rainfall -- where it will fall we cannot be sure but the earth as a
whole should receive greater precipitation. Meteorologists now believe
that any rise in sea levels over the next century will be at most a
around 6,000 years ago the earth sustained temperatures that were
probably more than four degrees Fahrenheit hotter than those of the
twentieth century, yet mankind flourished. The Sahara desert bloomed
with plants, and water loving animals such as hippopotamuses wallowed
in rivers and lakes. Dense forests carpeted Europe from the Alps to
Scandinavia. The Midwest of the United States was somewhat drier than
it is today, similar to contemporary western Kansas or eastern
Colorado; but Canada enjoyed a warmer climate and more rainfall."

The chances of a monkey to find the monk key
are reduced by a quarter because of a half dollar.
I think they are trying to shortchange us. For once the Australian
aborigines will have abandon the Outback, which is already sizzling
hot.

But there's more:

(I put a question mark next to those that are NOT common sense)

1. Spread of disease

As northern countries warm, disease carrying insects migrate north,
bringing plague and disease with them. Indeed some scientists believe
that in some countries, thanks to global warming, malaria has not been
fully eradicated.

2. Warmer waters and more hurricanes (?) --it's been mighty quiet for
a while, though it makes sense

As the temperature of oceans rises, so will the probability of more
frequent and stronger hurricanes. We saw in this in 2004 and 2005.

3. Increased probability and intensity of droughts and heat waves (?)
--I must trust the scientists here

Although some areas of Earth will become wetter due to global warming,
other areas will suffer serious droughts and heat waves. Africa will
receive the worst of it, with more severe droughts also expected in
Europe. Water is already a dangerously rare commodity in Africa, and
according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, global
warming will exacerbate the conditions and could lead to conflicts and
war.

4. Economic consequences

Most of the effects of anthropogenic global warming won’t be good. And
these effects spell one thing for the countries of the world: economic
consequences. Hurricanes cause billions of dollars in damage, diseases
cost money to treat and control and conflicts exacerbate all of
these.

5. Polar ice caps melting

The ice caps melting is a four-pronged danger.

First, it will raise sea levels. There are 5,773,000 cubic miles of
water in ice caps, glaciers, and permanent snow. According to the
National Snow and Ice Data Center, if all glaciers melted today the
seas would rise about 230 feet. Luckily, that’s not going to happen
all in one go! But sea levels will rise.

I WILL ADD THAT INCREASED IMMIGRATION WILL BE ANOTHER UNWELCOME RESULT
OF GLOBAL WARMING.

IT GOES ON...

"The balance is long gone now. Only the blind and the ignorant don't
see it. There is not much that can be done with the ignorant, but
there are many more blind than there are ignorant. The blind are the
people like myself a couple of years ago, before I got inspired and
before I realized that I am too lazy or my values have changed too
much to move another finger without becoming better, helping somebody
become better or making something better. The side effect to that is
that you learn to refuse to follow the ignorant. I believe the balance
can be restored, if more blind people opened their eyes. Then the
ignorant people would have less power to damage."

Sure, but folks smarter than they say that melting polar ice will stop the
thermal conveyer and bring an ice age to Europe, et al, that may last
centuries. It's cyclic.
But a crisis of this magnitude in this short time can only happen
because of man-made factors. We could be trying to prevent it from
worsening, but we are acting like we don't care.
News flash: Your side's data in this "debate" was already outed as
manipulated and fraudulent. Come back when you have anything *snort*
concrete.
So you want people to see snow where isn't any?
We have had record snow falls here and other places in the last few
years. Alarmists claim this is due to global warming aka climate
change. A few years before that we had little snow, which was also
blamed on climate change.
"Because of global warming pollution from burning fossil fuels,
winters are generally becoming milder, wetter, and starting later,
making the promise of a white Christmas more of a dream."
Really? So why did we get a huge snow storm before Thanksgiving here
in the northeatern US?

Add to that the fact that we haven't had ANY cold front by Christmas,
something I have never seen. Oh well, people don't notice these things
sheltered as they are in the cage.- Hide quoted text -

Local weather changes are exactly that: local weather changes. That does
not address global climate change. All of the factual, scientific data
that I have seen suggest that global warming is real and is actually
occurring; global warming and cooling cycles occur roughly every 20
thousand years. With that typed, it is not yet proven that anthropogenic
(man-made) global warming is the cause.- Hide quoted text -

So the monkey's OP which said "Researchers examined data from 1964 to
2009 and found that the chances of more than 2 centimeters of snow on
the ground on December 25th had declined by a quarter." was talking
about global snow fall? I don't think so.
I don't deny that there has been warming, nor that some of it might be
due to co2. I am skeptical about the extent claimed in many reports
and how much can be attributed to AGW. I am particularly skeptical
about reports such as the above when there are reports from all over
the globe that contradict them. Each one may be local, but combined
they are global.
Hey folks, cartoon time!

I don't think any sensible person denies climate change (a more
neutral term). The debate is about the CAUSE of the change. It's not a
given that it must be C02 emissions. There is plenty of data to show
that temperatures and seas rose in the middle ages, during what is now
called "the medieval warm period", and you can bet your bottom dollar
that that wasn't caused by coal fired power plants and gas-guzzling
4x4s.
Not in a short period of time while the whole machine is raging. You
must suspect the machine, right?

Something HARDCORE here, the truth and nothing but the truth...

"Manipulated" yes, "Fraudulent" no.
The manipulations performed on the raw data were not done with the
intent of producing false conclusions, nor has anyone demonstrated that
false conclusions resulted from the manipulations.
I haven't seen a concept that's manipulated, particularly those
abstract issues such as democracy.
Some even say it's a lie.
Some even think
that what people do
isn't natural.
Living their lives
with worry and fear
as if there is a "crisis"
of "magnitude" and they care.
They care so much,
they try to escape their doom.
They ride their bikes, faster and faster,
as if they could escape their fate.
Going in circles
as if they are getting somewhere.
Running around
as if they lost their heads.
As the sky is falling.
And then, if the asteroid fails
to meet their expectations, Earth
gets eaten by a Red Giant.

It sounds like the Buddhist approach, but not the Aboriginal Wisdom.
The Aborigines, Indians and other hunter-gatherers knew the new
masters' approach was wrong, but they were isolated, their wisdom
discarded as if they slowed down progress. The Christian progress
arrived to show the world how they could "conquer and multiply" in no
time. Only that they miscalculated the resulting pollution that now
permeates every drop of water and every square inch of ground.

Well, I'm here to tell you that PROGRESS IS WRONG when it denies the
space to ride a bike or even walk. You don't have to ask the
"primitive people" if Climate Change is real. They know it.
